If you play pool often, you may notice that your pool cue seems sticky and dirty after a couple sessions. This is caused from the build up of chalk and oil from our hands. Cleaning them regularly is very important or they can become permanently damaged. Clean cue will make each stroke smoother. There are a couple ways to clean the cue stick.
Before you start, gather the following materials:
- 2000 grit sand paper
- Dry piece of cloth
- Dish soap or similar detergent
After you gather the materials, start by applying the detergent to the cloth. You just want to get the cloth damped with the detergent. Start by cleaning the cue from the bottom to the tip. Repeat the process a couple time to ensure the detergent gets on all part of the cue.
After doing so, take the sandpaper and lightly sand the cue. As you’re sanding it, don’t apply too much pressure on it. Just enough that you see the caulk and dirt coming off. Repeat the process a couple again and finally wipe the cue down with another dry cloth.
For the best performance from your cue, it’s a good idea to clean it after every third session that you play. If you don’t like cleaning, you can wear gloves and that should help prevent the caulk and oil from your hands getting on the cue.
