There are many ways to learn how to improve your skills playing pool.  The Internet is the biggest source for information on pool playing.  However, information is only there to provide you guidance.  To really improve your skills, you’ll need to play the game.

In billiards, the smallest difference in skill level can make a huge difference because billiards is a game of inches.  Missing a shot by the slightest amount could determine if you are the winner.

If you are just starting out, it’s best to start playing at your own pace.  Avoid playing with other people who are more skilled than you.  Doing so could cause you embarrassment and give you a bad feeling toward pool.  Instead, try playing with others who are just learning the game also.

Once you get some experience under your belt, now would be a good time to find another player who is better than you.  By doing this, it’s forcing you to raise your game to their level in order to compete with them.

Another way to increase your skills is to go to a pool hall and watch how other people play.  This will help you learn some new skills to playing pool.  There are some players that will even lend you some advice on playing pools.  They might even teach you the tricks to making the shot and what to look for.  If not, then just watch how they make the shot.

Pool is all about strategies and the only way to improve your game is by playing it.  Once you play it for a while, you’ll get a better understanding of the game and what ball is the right one to hit, where to stand at the table, and so on.
