The first thing to consider is the size of the pool table.  Pool table typically come in 7, 8, or 9 foot measurements.  The one used for competition is the 9 foot table, but for most homes, it will be too big for the typical game of pool.  The most popular size for homes are the 8 foot table.  However, the 7 foot table might work if you don’t have a large game room or just want more room space.

Lighting

The light is very important to the game of pool.  There are many different light fixtures available ranging from metal to stained glass.  Most people will generally hang the lighting fixture right above the pool table to give it more luminosity.  However, you can hang the lighting fixtures from the ceiling as well, but you may want to get brighter light bulbs.

Table Material

The material used for the bed under the playing surface will wither be wood, slate, or synthetic material.  Slate is the most preferred one, especially by experienced player.  However, slate is the most expensive material used to make the pool table so it will make the overall cost more.
